Select a video quality
To get started, launch the Video Downloader Pro app and enter a keyword after which it will generate a list of search results. Tap on a video to watch or download it to your device. The download button is found at the top of the screen. Beside the download icon is another button that presents a dropdown menu of various video formats, such as MPEG-4 720p, WebM 360p, MPEG-4 360p, 3GPP 240p, and 3GPP 144p — though it would be great if there’s a 1080p option.
Once the app begins downloading your video, you’ll be able to see its progress as well as the file size in “My Downloads.” You can save multiple videos simultaneously, too. Once the file has been downloaded, it is now available for offline viewing. If you go to the program’s settings, there are options for enabling “Use external video player” or “Use external audio player,” changing the default resolution or format, and the like.
Lacks privacy protection features
It’s important to remember that the app functions both as a downloader and a platform for watching videos of various genres and themes. However — unlike InShot Inc.’s Video Downloader — Video Downloader Pro lacks a password mechanism for safeguarding sensitive video files, putting them at risk of unauthorized access. There are no built-in video-editing tools, either, so users have to install third-party editors like KineMaster or PowerDirector.
Sadly, this video downloader is no longer supported by the developer. Upon launching, the program will tell you to delete this program and download the newer version on the PlayStore. If you tap “Update,” the app will only redirect you to an error page on Google Play. Thankfully, there are working downloaders in the market right now, including Pure All Video Downloader by PureBrowser and Battery Stats Saver’s All File & Video Downloader.
A non-working downloader
While the app is not supported by the developer anymore, Video Downloader Pro delivers a seamless user experience with its no-fuss downloading process and clean interface. Moreover, the option to select your preferred file format and display resolution added a level of agency over the quality of your downloaded video. When it comes to privacy, it is the app’s biggest weakness, as it lacks a password protection system.
